Basic handshapes

These are some of the basic hand shapes used in British Sign Language. We've included them because they are mentioned in the descriptions of how to make certain signs.

We've also referred in the descriptions to the index finger, middle finger, ring finger and little finger. Here's an illustration to remind you which is which!
