Sharon started signing with Bradley when he was 5 months - as this video shows his favourite sign is ‘more’!

Babies will love spending quality time with you - the visual stimulus of the baby signs, animated facial expressions and hearing your voice speaking or singing even if they’re not signing back. And many people report that babies start using several signs all at once as if their brain has suddenly made sense of what they’ve been teaching!

Toddlers will also enjoy and benefit from using signs – research shows it can help speech development. Read more on Dr Joseph Garcia and the benefits of baby sign language.

Baby sign language can really bring songs and stories to life. Watch videos of some of the best children’s stories by some of the most well-known authors and illustrators – including by the new Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson – on our award-winning storytelling website Signed Stories (www.signedstories.com).

Nursery teachers can use the same signs with children of all ages – from the youngest babies to toddlers and those about to go on to school.
