First steps:
A helping hand
If your baby seems to be struggling learning to sign, you can help.
Have a look at the Top Tips supplied by parents. Check on the FAQs to see if there's anything you can change in the way you're teaching or using signs.
Where babies seem to be having problems forming the signs, you can help by gently guiding their hands, moulding them to make the right shape.
Once they do a sign - even if it is not perfect - don't forget to praise them.
If they are making a sign which is not quite correct, don't adapt your sign to theirs. Always use the same correct version. If you change your sign to match your child's, s/he is likely to become confused.
And use the forum to seek advice from other mums and dads. There are lots of people out there who've become expert baby signers.
