Better communication at an earlier age
Babies instinctively have an ability to use gestures. Their hand-eye co-ordination develops earlier than their capacity for speaking. So it makes sense to teach them a limited number of signs for important words - giving them an ability to sign what they want before they can say what they want. But don't forget to speak the words which you are signing - verbal communication from you is important too.
