Introduction

About ITV BabySign

Every parent knows there are times when babies get frustrated and upset because they want something and they can't tell you what it is.

ITV BabySign is designed to take the guesswork and frustration out of parenting, helping to create happier babies - and happier mums and dads!

Babies and toddlers instinctively use signs to try and tell us what they want or how they are feeling...

For example
  • They wave 'hello' and 'goodbye'
  • Move their head to say 'yes' or 'no'
  • Raise their arms to be picked up
  • ITV BabySign simply taps into this natural ability

You can quickly learn - and then teach to your baby - a set of easy-to-remember signs and gestures. The signs are based on British Sign Language (BSL).

By using signs for basic words like 'milk', 'eat', 'sleep', 'more' and 'play', babies can learn to express their needs before they can talk.

They learn the signs through repetition as mum and dad simultaneously speak and sign words. With time and patience your baby will learn useful signs and then be able to communicate basic wants and needs.
