ITV BabySign is produced by ITV SignPost, a centre of excellence for multi-platform British Sign Language (BSL) access.

It’s based deliberately on BSL, the UK’s fourth indigenous language.

Standardising the use of BSL for baby sign means there is less chance of confusion over the meaning of signs – everyone can use the same signs to help them learn more quickly. And any signs used by your baby can also be understood by those who know BSL – a group which includes many health professionals.

Did you know? It's estimated that about 70,000 deaf people in the UK use BSL as their first language with hundreds of thousands more deaf and hearing people using it as a second or third language.
